Kenya has always been working closely with the western countries and has formed stronger relations with these western countries like America and United Kingdom among many others. We Kenyans depended on them and with their large influence all over Africa we can see why they are our brothers in arms. We can still see our closeness with Americans when our President was well received recently. The American President has seen the way the Chinese has paved their way to East Africa and especially in Kenya. We argue and argue but without this Chinese influence in our country, Americans and other western countries were content with our relationship.

Then came the Chinese, with promises, deals, highways and a The Standard Gauge Railway which will connect the East African countries. As Dr. Alfred Mutua governor of Machakos often says “Maendelo chapa chapa”, one would be a fool to say no to that. One thing is for sure the moment our Former President Mwai Kibaki opened Thika Highway our lives were completely interrupted and changed with the Chinese around for a very long time. We have to accept there is a new culture amongst us which we can learn and borrow a lot from. Most Kenyans look at it in different ways because we are all affected differently.
When a new culture is introduced into a society, there will be both positive and negative influences. The Chinese influence in Kenya has been felt throughout wherever they have stationed. Economically, there has been an increase in demand for Chinese vegetables as well as their other delicacies. Housing has also improved with many clients opting for Chinese contractors rather than locals who tend to take longer in constructions. The road infrastructure being built by the Chinese will help boost the Farmers transport their products to various markets.

The Chinese people have inspired Kenyans on how to be aggressive in business ventures and how to improve their livelihood. From motor cycles to cheap products from china, this has enabled the Kenyan citizen achieve a lot. At the end we must agree to that if we cannot beat them we join them in improving the life of Kenyans.
