<p>Contrary to many people's desire to gain exposure and an opportunity to step on a platform that will catapult them into their desired destiny, Ruth Matete, the winner of Tusker Project Fame season 5 is not happy about her decision to have joined the academy. </p><p>"Given an opportunity again or if I was taken back I wouldn't join TPF." She said these words during an interview on a local morning show. The fame, the attention, the criticism, the challenges and change of lifestyle are part of her top reasons. Her spirituality was challenged by critics who think she should have not joined a secular platform. Being a born again Christian has gotten her a fair deal of criticism both from fans and haters. </p><p>People should not define you. Criticism will always be there, learn to live above it. <br>There has been some serious growth in Infrastructure in our main cities in recent years. Construction has taken on another level with apartments, office blocks, hotels, schools, hospitals and other building on demand. When one looks at it like this one would think it’s not a destructive force but trust me as much as we need sand on the other hand it is very destructive. Sand is much needed by Mother Nature as much as we also need it for construction. Sand contains the ability to preserve water and we ask ourselves why Ukambani land is one of the driest parts in Kenya.To my understanding there are some situations where seeing is believing. One has to see the destructive nature of harvesting and how it affects the surrounding nature as well as the residents in the neighborhood.<br><div class="MsoNormal"><br></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">In the beginning of the year The Machakos Governor Dr. Afred Mutua put levies on Sand harvesting in a way that if one is buying or selling sand,<a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="_GoBack"></a> one has to pay a tax of 20 thousand shillings. His counterpart Makueni Govoner Professor Kibutha Kibwana instead took a bold move and totally banned sand harvesting in his county.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>Dr. Afred Mutua wants to build a new city and this will require a lot of Sand for the Buildings which will be there. Machakos and Makueni Counties has best quality sand in the country and Leaders need to get up and save what we have left. This natural resource we have in plenty, we need to find a way how it can be harvested in a manner where Mother Nature can thrive. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">In order to understand the severity of the matter I decided to visit a farm affected by sand harvesting and show how it has proven a losing battle. After surveying this particular farm, we decided with the management to go and consult the Machakos County offices in charge of sand harvesting and it’s licensing. Going to those offices was just a waste of our valuable time, instead of giving us information or helping us we ended up  in the NEMA Machakos offices. The Machakos NEMA offices are located 15 minutes’ drive on Kangundo Road, then just next to Mumbuni Boys High School. I must admit NEMA are well organized, we were well received the junior staff and made us fill a form after we had handed in a request letter for ban on Sand harvesting in</span><span lang="EN-GB"> that particular area. The officers then instructed us to go get an OB number from the Machakos police station so that they can come and asses the area then give us the Ban.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">Getting an OB number from the police was not a big issue since that’s what they are used to on a daily basis. We drove back to the NEMA offices knowing that we had already fulfilled the requirements of getting the sand ban.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>We even went an extra mile and took pictures of the destructive nature of sand harvesting. When we got there, we were well received and after giving the OB number to them, we were ushered in the manager's office. My first observation was that he continued reading a newspaper even as we settled. After we explained our purpose of coming to see him, he is the kind of people I ask why they even bother to wake up and go to the office at all. He just wasn’t interested in our claims even after showing him pictures of how destructive sand harvesting was to the farms around as well as the youth. The youth on the other hand live a destructive life as well because the do the harvesting and the loading which later on the money ends up in the local dens for cheap liquor. When we left those NEMA offices I was deeply worried of our youth and suddenly the people who have been trusted to work for the citizens instead of reading newspapers while having guests in your offices. From movies to advertisements there is no where digital art has not been used.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>Looking back from where Art has come from, it’s clear that the future will need this sort of art to save the old. Last Friday’s surprise caught me unaware. I was traveling up country when I accidentally met an old friend of mine I was least expecting. We had not met with him for some while since the golden college days when life was full of laughter. The first thing I noticed was that his tummy is growing quite fast than mine. We had a soft drink, a soda and some snacks before spending part of the afternoon at the famous Machakos People’s park. He was on leave, and so was I. This was one of the rare opportunities we could talk about life after college particularly how we had faired relative to our expectations of the so called outside world.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">Among the many subjects we talked about, three took most of our time. One was the issue of employment. We had heightened expectations that one would land to a well paying job immediately after college. Mostly, before we encountered the realities of the job market, we imagined scenarios were employers would be chasing for very few graduates. Unfortunately, it was the other way round, too many over qualified graduates chasing a few jobs. A few did secure jobs immediately, the lucky ones, during one which was a very trying time especially on any one’s patience. People said connections mattered a lot in the job market, others emphasized the role of the Internet, and rumors held that one had to dig to their pockets for some <span style="font-family: "Lucida Calligraphy";">chai </span>to get a job. There were just too many instructions for job seekers that we felt confused. At the end of it all, we both agreed that as it pertained matters of work, patience was all that counted. Most of our class mates are now employed three years down the line. It was a test of patience I guess. <o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">The last two topics were fun to deal with than remembering our embarrassment in the job market. One we talked about how friends had faired. At times we found ourselves comparing ourselves to them. You know, each wants to be the first who buys that beautiful car, house, immediately after college. It is a kind of an unhealthy competition which spurs people to keep working harder. However, I think when it is about who buys this and that consumable; it is like a star shinning in the wrong direction. It had better be in investments in things that would likely generate more income like more education and competing in the spirit of enterprise. My friend seemed reluctant to agree with me on this.<o:p></o:p></div><br /><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">Last, we talked about relationships. We talked of relationships that people had in campus and how they survived or crushed after. Mainly, since both of us are now ripe to marry, we talked of the challenge of identifying the one with so many masqueraders around after you are put on payroll.  My friend said he has three under strict scrutiny. I lied to him that I am yet to settle on one. We agreed that, society would do us good if it could give us some history of all the potential candidates so that one may easily estimate the trouble they may run into after the holy vows. Though it does give some of this information, it is normally so distorted and can only be found in bars which many of us don’t frequent.   <o:p></o:p></div>

The truth is, what we have in mind is a wrong description of an entrepreneur. What we are asking for is that we might be lazy entrepreneurs. The two wants, to be lazy, and to be an entrepreneur can only be compatible in spoken language but can never happen in reality.</div><div class="MsoNormal"> </div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">I think that is where I have been stuck. Someone gave me the wrong description of what and who an entrepreneur is in terms of their attributes. It is time we learn from real entrepreneurs than fantasizing situations. Consider many of our employers and you will find a very different kind of a boss from the one I want to be. What I would wish to do in the position of a boss is different from what is required of a boss. It surfaces that, what I am asking for actually does not exist. It is like I want to separate the employer from the responsibilities of one. I want the title and not the responsibilities. Well, I think I possibly would get that in a play script. It will never happen in a real world setting.</div>

I love how our ladies are empowered and in our today society they are top in the class and when they eventually get to the top is when they realize that they don't have empowered men ready for them.</p><p>I told my friend who was telling me that she couldn't find a man ready to face her and settle down with her. My response was "girl..You know too much", you intimidate men and where we are right now, no guy is up to the challenge. Truth is that, she and many others out there are not to blame. The <b>boy child needs to be empowered as much to be able to WORK, LIVE, RELATE AND ASSOCIATE WITH THE EMPOWERED LADY.</b> </p><p>The woman cannot be the head even if she is tough. She will be more effective when built on a foundation of a man. It might not be what you want to hear but that is God's plan for mankind. The most powerful words I have ever heard are "The saddest thing to happen to a person is not death but to live a life without purpose." I can't really remember when I first heard or read those words only thing that I remember is that I dedicated myself to finding my purpose and live for it. These words were resounded when Dr.Myles Monroe visited Kenya and more so after his passing.<br><br><i>But how do you find your purpose and how do you start living for it?</i><br>First step to finding your purpose is asking God for it after all he is the only one who knows what it is.<br><br><br>Second pray that He guides you towards it. He is the only one who can show you where to go, what to do and help you when you go off course.<br>I am aware that there are programs that offered by several firms to help you through that Journey but the only way to start that journey is to make a commitment with yourself and your God the programs after all are meant to help you identify that purpose and not help you in your journey. Do you have the idea? Is it good enough or you just picked it because it worked with so and so? What do you know about your idea? Can you run the business or do you know how to manage it? Is it something you love doing? Do you know the right people to work with? Do you know exactly what you need to start it? Above all do you know how much it will require you to start and run it?</p><p>Those are many questions but they are crucial for you to answer them before you start complaining about capital. Once you can positively answer all these questions, you are already a success. You start a business long before you set it up. Once you have done your homework, you will find out that your vision comes with provision. You dont have to wait till you win a million shillings then you start asking, 'what do I do with this money? What business do I start?' Have a sound idea and you will get ahead of many for there are so many out there with money but no ideas. Since it was expensive to come back home every holiday, I opted to travel around Malaysia and its surroundings. Malaysia is located in the Southeast Asia, and it’s separated by the South China Sea into two similarly sized regions namely Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia (Malaysia Borneo). My adventure began on a Friday when I and a couple of friends decided to head to Tioman Island for a holiday.<br><br>Tioman Island is a small island which is located 32 km off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia in the state of Pahang. To access the Island one has to use a ferry service or a propeller plane service. I love swimming and getting on the ferry was just a routine holiday trip for me and my boys. Our journey to the island took us approximately two hours where we were received warmly with a cold glass of tropical juice. I had to admit that Tioman Island is one of the most beautiful highlands I have ever been to. As we settled into our rooms I was glad that we picked Tioman Island for our holiday. Our adventure began the day of the arrival as we had an evening of full entertainment with cultural dancers and a live band carrying us away with wonderful performances. As we retired to bed we knew that we had a great weekend to look forward to. The weekend passed away with lots of activities like snorkeling, parasailing and jet skiing. We had made lots of friends as well formed a friendship amongst ourselves.</span></div><br><br><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">It was hard for each one of us to leave and as we boarded the ferry back home one could easily see the sadness on each of our faces. Our journey back started well but within half an hour the sea changed and become bad. I have seen storms in movies but experiencing one was beyond my expectations. There were 20 feet waves crushing our ferry and tossing it like a toy boat. The passengers were mostly white tourists, a few local people and us. We were only two black people on the boat and since we had never experienced such a storm we immediately requested for the life jackets. The rest of the passengers we caught in laughter when my friend mentioned that he had watched a lot of movies and in situations like this black people always died first. After a short laughter the crew finally gave everyone a life jacket. A trip that usually took 2 hours ended up taking 8 hours after the captain battled his way through the waves to our destination. The sea almost swallowed us as people started making peace with their God. At some point we are praying for our safety return to mainland, nothing else mattered to us than to see land. When we arrived at the port all we could do was to kiss the land. There is nothing better than to see land after eight hours of sea and after almost swallowed by the sea. We all learnt an important lesson that it’s important to check the weather in advance before choosing a holiday location.</span>

Depending on where we grew, we will be forgiven for reacting differently but I dont think anyone has the right to humiliate another for being contrary to their personal values.</p><p>It's important to respect one another and be careful not to hurt each other either by provoking or reacting. Minding your own business is cool but check where you play your cards, lest you burn. How far is too far..?
