KNUT has called for the closure of the Garissa Teachers Training College following the attack that took place at the Garissa University College on Thursday few metres from the Teachers college.
KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion says that all the students and the facilities should be transferred to safer parts of the country. The union believes that the college was safe from the attack just because the students had already gone home for April holiday.
Sossion further urged the govt to turn Garissa University College to a military training school and transfer its students to other universities in the country adding that the Garissa Teachers Training College should not be opened in May due to insecurity in the area.
In a statement Sossion has also advised teachers in the Northern Kenya to leave if the feel insecure.
In another hand the govt has started evacuating students who survived the Garissa University terror attack with buses from NYS currently at the university ferrying students to their respective homes after the institution was closed down.
