The University of Nairobi student have issued a one day notice to the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) to disburse funds to the accounts or face demonstrations.SONU Chair Babu Owino has said that the students will take their grievances to the HELB offices at Anniversary Towers here in Nairobi today(Thursday) to protest delayed release of the students loans.Owino has vowed to push until the loans are released and that he will rally student from all public Universities across the country to hold demos to demand student loans.
The student leader has added that mostly first year student have been affected by the delay since the loans for the second semester were supposed to be released January.
On the other hand HELB via their twitter account have assured that funds will be remitted to student's bank accounts of UoN and Kenyatta University from Thursday.
