When Apple started producing its merchandises, the world was abuzz with excitement. They rolled out phones, laptops, watches and other gadgets. At some point, when the world got overwhelmed with their products, people started poking fun at Apple products, one such joke was, “what next, a car?” And then people would snort and laugh. Well, rumour has it that Apple might release a car. I wonder what they will call it, ICar, IVehicle, IDon’t Care.  Those who predicted this raise your hands.

Allegedly, Apple has begun working on an electric car to be released by 2020. Apple has already recruited 200 employees and technical experts to work on the car, the team of engineers is called ‘Titans.’ However, the project is not set in stone yet; making a car from scratch is not an easy task and can take more than 10 years to finish. Moreover, there is a chance that the project might get abandoned if the executives are not happy with the pace of the project or the initial prototype. Interestingly, everything surrounding the project is being kept the wraps, it has all been very secretive so far.

As you can guess Apple has a lot of money, in fact more than they know what to do with. The tech giant posted a record profit of $18 billion during the past quarter, has $178 billion in cash. So hey, why not build a car?

If the car does come out, I wonder how much it will cost? For a typical iPhone or IPad, one has to reach deep into their pockets. Now imagine a car, the price of the electric thing might be enough to buy a city. We will just have to wait and see. I, for one I am not holding my breath, Apple products have always been too expensive for me to appreciate; except maybe ITunes.
