You have heard of it, seen it, or perhaps experienced this concept of love at first sight. However, how real is this phenomenon? Is it because we have watched a multitude of romantic movies and listened to all sorts of love songs that this prospect of love at first sight now seems very plausible? When someone tells you or maybe whenever you read a story about how a man and a woman saw each other across the room and fell in love, there are two different reactions that this can garner, a chuckle of disbelief or an excited congratulation. There are those who believe that love at first sight is a fictional concept that has gained popularity because of the constant commercialization of love and others who are fervent believers of this notion.
According to research, it is all in the eyes. In order to differentiate between love at first sight and lust at first sight, one must see where the eyes are looking. This means that, if you notice a woman or man across the room and your heart skips a beat and you gaze into their eyes then you see that person as a potential for partner for love. On the other hand, if you notice that person across the room and your heart skips a beat and your gaze is more focused on their body, then it is most likely sexual desire that you are feeling.
So, it is possible to experience immediate love, however, it is not an exact science. Love at first sight is rarer than one might think. For the rest of us, love is much more than just instant attraction. Just because you are attracted to a person in a split second does not make you both compatible. Love is complicated, it takes work and it is supposed to take time. Those who rush into love can either end up badly hurt or live happily ever after. As a result, it would be wise to consider love at first glance more like attraction at first glance, where you now have an opportunity to discover if love is truly there between the two of you. This however, does not mean that this concept does not exist, it just mean that caution should be exercised. Love is also blind after all.
