Two men were admitted to an hospital and were sharing a room there. The first man's bed was next to a window and he ailed from cancer. He had specifically requested to be put next to a window.
The second man's bed was on the other side of the room away from the window with him he didn't really mind where he lay. He was ailing from chronic diabetes and was lying there with a broken ankle as well.
From the first day, they coul talk and the first man always spoke well of his family who had died from a grizzly road accident. He spoke of how he sees them in his dreams an how they are special to him. On the other hand, the second man had separated from his family due to conflicts.
Every morning, the first man lifted his head and looked outside the window and started telling the second man how it was so beautiful out there. How he could see children playing and laughing, couples hugging each other and enjoying good time together. He always said something good each morning that he saw outsidr the window.
The second man who had separated from his family started enjoying those words and they gave him anticipation to want to be next to the window to see how it was possible to find such beauty in this current world since all he knew was pain and sorrow. He never believed there can be such happines.
The words and images the first man painted in the second man's head kept him thinking daily how he could go and see this beauty for himself and probably go look for his family if he ever gets well. He anticipated so much to hear what happened outside the window each morning.
For three months, he heard those words daily and this morning the diabetic man was taken for routine tests and his ankle had healed already. He couldn't wait to get back and share the good news with his room mate. Tests showed that the diabetes was no more and he was to be discharged in a week.
Getting to the room he didn't find his room mate..only a nurse folding the beddings and with a sad look on her face. She told him that the first msn had succumbed to cancer and he was no more. Hurt and troubled he asked to be moved to the bed next to the window.
Finally he lifted his head to get a glance at that beautiful park full of possibilities and happy families. Since he was on the bed used by the first man. To his suprize, there was no view. He couldn't believe it. It was just overlooking an old wall and an abondoned backyard.
"How could he see beauty in all these?" He asked. The nurse said excuse me, are you talking about seeing? He was BLIND!
He knew he was dying and wanted to teach you the beauty of life. The things we take for granted. His death wish was for you to live afresh and go create the world he saw through the window. He wept so much as the nurse left not believing what a lesson he had learnt.
