Let us celebrate the real heroes among us

<div dir="ltr">I as a child I was a fun of fairy tales not just for the obvious reasons but because there is always a hero who defeats the villain so that formed my picture of who a hero should be.<br>As I grow up I continue to learn that real heroes are not the ones on action movies or in fairy tales, real heroes live among us. Real heroes are the parents who have raised us but the heroes of this world are the parents who decided to stay and raise their disabled children. Having school with a person suffering from hydrocephalus (of course at between 6-14 years I didn't understand what it was) I have come to understand that raising a child is tough but raising a disabled child is not only tough but challenging and those challenges are what make some parents leave their children behind or worse still lock them up.<br>Over the past one month I have been meeting this woman taking her child to school you may ask what is you unique about this child? She is suffering from cerebral palsy and we know how much attention such children require, the other day I met daughter and mother grocery shopping and I was touched. Taking Kenya's Arts to Where it belongs

<div dir="ltr">When listening to Muthoni the DQ on Nation fm last you can tell the zeal and the passion for the Kenyan music industry.<br />I do support Muthoni when she says what ails our industry not just the music but the whole arts fraternity is legislation let us go the Nigerian way we lock out everything from outside or by some percentage then we can get to appreciate our arts, buy it, and create more jobs solving our one of our most pressing issues in our successive governments...<b><i> unemployment.</i></b><br />Yes it is a process but it can be done if only the first step can be taken.<br />On legislation let us get our facts right before we throw out ABC let us read and understand it first and not wait for the media or the politicians to tell us what they think is good for us or not.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe width="320" height="266" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://ytimg.googleusercontent.com/vi/BMIH6K-a3BI/0.jpg" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/BMIH6K-a3BI?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div><div dir="ltr"><br />For our media please make us love our own by playing the music and airing our own programs; the reason why Citizen TV seamed to have an edge over the other stations before the analogue switch off was because of their appreciation for local talent airing our locally produced shows. I must also give credit NTV who are doing the same; the numbers speak for themselves Kenyans do love to watch Kenyans and listen to Kenyans.<br />That is why I am sad to see Maisha magic go it has so much interesting Kenyan connect to shows it aired. So may be M-Net can consider having it on GOtv as well or alternatively the content creators can sell the same to other stations.</div><div dir="ltr"><br /></div><div dir="ltr">Through arts other sectors will also benefit like the tourism industry. </div><div dir="ltr"><br /></div><div dir="ltr">Let us saturate our airwaves with our content, grow our industry and reduce unemployment.</div>

The rape incident is alleged to have happened after the student lured his victim into his private hostel at Kwa Vonza market.<br /><br />He either denied both charges and was released on Sh50,000 cash bail pending trial. <br /><br />On the other hand the University administration denied Social media reports that the rape incident involved one of its lecturers. <br /><br />Speaking to a Media house the University's Public Relations officer Fiona Mucheni said that, "There's no such report. The whole story is untrue and fabricated rumors. We will not hesitate taking stern legal action against any media house that carries the story,"

For instance when you get to a big hotel, your access to it depends on how you are dressed, what you got their with and more surprising some guards even judge you with your body to let you in.  </div><div style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><br /></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">There are many things that can make you realize that this gap exists. This weekend was the most proving weekend for me on the issue through electricity blackout in two parts of the city. Part one was Kangemi whose transformer faulted last week on Wednesday but up to now it has not yet been repaired meaning that the area residents have been in blackout in the better part of last week. In Westlands a tree fell on an electricity pole on Sunday causing black out in the area but it took less than 12 hours for situation to be addressed and electricity was back in the area.  </div><div style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><br /></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Something should be done to end this gap but before something is done we should start it ourselves, Lets make those who are less fortunate feel they deserve living, not making them regret the live they live.  </div>

They should be aware of any mentions your company gets. They also respond to reviews posted elsewhere and get published on Twitter. This is very important in managing the company’s reputation on social media.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;">Your company’s social media manager should also understand the importance of Google+ when it comes to SEO. The content they post here should be similar to what they post on Facebook. The social media manager should “circle” accounts of people in the same industry as you and make sure they interact with the content they post.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;">The manager should also be aware of the current trends on social media. Never have I been against gender equality, I am very much for it, but truly, the effect of concentrating so much on empowering the girl child is likely to tilt the entire system against the boy child. Policies that enhance equality should be implemented while those propelling inequality should be abandoned immediately. The laws against F.G.M, wife battery are progressive. Each of us should have that right to be safe and not be threatened by the other in any way; be it by physical injury or by death. After eliminating traditions that prevent the girl child from performing equally to the boy child, there is no need to put other institutional frameworks that are made to accelerate equality. The law after abolishing barriers to equal access to economic, social, and political opportunities should let nature take its course. Eventually, things would balance. We would have equal representation by both genders in every aspect of life. Two institutional frameworks are against the object of gender equality: the two-thirds rule of representation and the other of cut-off points for joining universities.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">If we really as a country endeavor to promote gender equality, then why is a requirement that we must have this percentage of this gender necessary? Let us open up competition, and let all humans compete equally. Much as the policy does well to rank us as more gender-sensitive internationally, it has nothing to do with gender equality. We must not get women from home, or other works they feel comfortable with so that we fulfill a majority requirement. Free access of education by both genders was enough to bring those changes in future. It serves no purpose, even to the women to create unnecessary political positions so that the world may see us as gender sensitive. Evidently, what is it that the numerous women representatives have done to women that was not done to them before? In fact, we see the same passionate women leaders we have been with before doing the noble work of women empowerment as they have always done. In addition, the experienced women leaders know what has to be fought; issues that bring equality to both genders. Few of the newly elected leaders know what it is that is to be fought for women to get. If we were genuine to ourselves, then we would unanimously agree that, other than decorating our figures regarding gender sensitivity, the issue of women representatives has nothing to do with gender equality.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">Secondly, the cut-off points for joining universities are so much biased against the boy child. At one hand, the society has neglected him while still immature. We are told that boys are nurtured to be men and as such should not ask for any assistance. Very few are concerned when a boy is assaulted by an adult. Everybody agrees that the boy should less be protected because he is a future man who should develop his own defensive mechanisms while growing. Boys have quit school, so many of them, and you find them in the streets, others sited in groups around towns because they have a common problem. This neglect alone should serve to equal out the number of boys completing high school. Further, we have an almost equal number of girls and boys schools. It is true to, some extent boys perform better than girls, but that is what competition is for, eliminating those who can from those who cannot. Equality should apply in competition as well. If there are girls beating men in class then it means with proper effort equality can be achieved without resulting to orders. Lowering of cut-off points is forcing things to work your way because you fear to face the reality. If the issue is having nearly equal number of boys and girls joining university, then make the girl child pass as the boy child. </div>
